Motorola Moto Z Play has been trimmed down its hardware but beefed up the battery, Its Moto Mod feature is still there but price went to cheaper. Moto Z Play can be defined in its three characteristics longer battery life, Affordable and Reliable. It is one of the best mid-range phones currently available even without the Mods.
This phone is available only in US now at the price of $408. Its GSM compatible unlocked version will be available worldwide at $450 from next month in October. If you compare the Moto Z Play price with its other counterparts such as original Z and Z Force, you have to pay around additional $200 from the price paid for Z Play, while it features all goodies of its original Z series and not let you compromise on something.
What is unique about Moto Z Play?
Moto Z Play is a premium Smartphone with all possible functionalities available and its functions are extended through the new accessory introduced which needs to be attached on the back of phone and is known as Moto Mods. It has several uses and can also be act like a beautiful back cover or can be held as an extra battery case. This mod is basically designed to perform specific functions or bring the improvements in functions already performed by Moto Z Play such as its newest Mod Hasselblad True Zoom is used as point-and-shoot camera accessory. This mode is used for taking high quality and accurate pictures in Zoom, which other Smartphone cannot do. This Mode enables user taking 10x optical zoom for picture capturing. All Smartphone are not good taking pictures in Zoom and this new Mod gives the Moto Z Play an edge over others.
What about the camera of Moto Z Play?
Its 16 Mega Pixel camera is good for taking decent and clear photos while its shutter operates quickly. The picture taken from Z Play was having little white hues which were not experienced when pictures were taken from Original Moto Z. Overall, Its camera performance is satisfactory for taking casual pictures.
Should I get it?
Its Specs are not higher comparing to its counterparts Moto Z and Z force, also other Smartphone in this price range such as OnePlus 3 and Alcatel idol 4S are having better specs compare to Z Play. But, this phone deserves a consideration to buy and you should make some research yourself before discard the Z Play. If you have limited money and cannot afford its Mods, then you should go for OnePlus 3.
If you have a budget of $450, then I do not think should be going for other than Moto Z Play especially when you also need long battery life and running Smartphone without days of charging. I think, the most important decision factor is whether or not you like the Motorola Mods, because it makes the Z Play very expensive Smartphone considering its specs.
